BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent was supported by her co-stars as she made a "brave" admission on Wednesday (October 15).
During today's edition of the hit morning programme, Sally and her co-host Roger Johnson updated viewers on the latest news from across the UK and around the world.
They were joined in the studio by Carol Kirkwood, who delivered regular weather forecasts, while John Watson and Emma Vardy presented the sport and business segments, respectively.
Later in the show, Sally revealed that the Natural History Museum's Wildlife Photographer of the Year had been chosen.
"Selected from over 60,000 entries from over 100 countries, this powerful image of a brown hyena standing beside the ruins of an abandoned diamond mining settlement in South Africa claimed the top prize," Roger explained.
He then said, "Sally's gonna read this next bit, but she'll have to do it with her eyes closed."
Sally was forced to look away as a picture of a large spider appeared on screen. "I'm not going to look at the picture," she said before proceeding to read the autocue.
"This is an image of an orb-weaver spider, and it secured Jamie Smart from the UK the Under 10 title," she read, with Roger adding, "We're going to catch up with the winner at 9.15am."
"She's braver than me!" Sally noted, before Roger shared his praise: "You did really well to read that whilst blocking out the screen! She's not a fan of spiders."
Carol, who was about to present the weather forecast, chimed in: "Definitely not! No, [I'm] not really, especially the great big, hairy ones you find in the bath."
Roger went on: "They're all in the house at this time of year. I've picked up a few and put them back in the garden. They probably just keep coming back in again, I expect."
A shocked Carol concluded: "Oh, Roger, you're a braver man than me, that's for sure!"
Elsewhere on today's show, Sally shared "difficult" news as the amount of money customers owe to energy companies has hit an eight-year high.
Households are starting the winter owing £780 million to their energy suppliers, the highest debt levels in eight years, a survey for Uswitch found.
