Bengaluru weather alert: Residents of Bengaluru are bracing for heavy rainfall over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city, warning of rain-related disruptions and flooding in low-lying areas.

Commuters are advised to check traffic updates before heading out, as several key routes are likely to be affected.

According to the IMD, Bengaluru and surrounding districts are expected to witness scattered rain and thundershowers over the next three days.

Gusty winds of 30-40 kmph may accompany the showers in Bengaluru (Urban and Rural), Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Tumakuru, and Ramanagara districts. Light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds is also likely in Ballari and Vijayanagara.

Waterlogging and Flood Risks in Low-Lying Areas Across Bengaluru

Heavy rain has caused waterlogging in several parts of the city, particularly in low-lying localities. Residents are warned of the risk of flooding from accumulated rainwater.

A solo weather forecast account on X (formerly Twitter) shared a rainfall map for Bengaluru, showing scattered light to moderate rainfall across the city, with the extreme north, south-west, south-east, and extreme south registering the heaviest showers.

Trees Uprooted and Traffic Disruptions Create Chaos on Bengaluru Roads

Strong winds and rain have caused multiple trees to fall, creating traffic jams across Bengaluru. The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) reported that seven trees were uprooted and 25 branches snapped due to the heavy showers and winds.

Bengaluru Traffic Police issued several warnings in the morning as waterlogged roads and fallen trees blocked major routes, impacting daily commuters.

14 October: Mostly cloudy skies are forecast, with no significant rain expected. Day and night temperatures will stay around 29°C and 20°C respectively, making for comfortable weather.

Authorities have urged Bengaluru residents and commuters to remain cautious, avoid waterlogged streets, and check local traffic updates before travelling. The combination of heavy showers, gusty winds, and fallen trees could continue to disrupt traffic over the next few days.
